Went to Kanawha Valley Saturday with some friends who were racing... just to spectate... and we all (seven of us) decided to make the 3hr trip to the National Trail Raceway's Test and Tune the next day (today) Sunday. Well, I didn't decide to go until 9PM the night before, so I ended up working on the car and loading stuff up until well after 2AM.. got to bed at 3AM, was up at 6AM.. and on the road! T&T went from 11-4, and the track was working really well!
My very first run was the best ET, a 10.24, but the last had my best 60ft ever... a 1.41!!!! It carried the front wheels most of the way through first gear, and felt AWESOME!!!
Only problem, was after the first run, the car sounded like it had a rod about to come out of the engine! Problem was a broken header tube! Oh well, it sounded embarrassing, as it truly did sound like it was about to come apart, but I kept racing. It was down around 3-4 mph after that run, but the one tube wasn't really doing anything, and that port was emptying pretty much right into the air. lol Too bad it was down a little after that run, or the 1.41 60ft run may have resulted in a new personal best!
The tires are around 7 years old, and the fuel was around 4 years old. lol
Trails did a great job of prepping the track... and it was just a Test and Tune! They would work and spray it before the faster cars would go. WAY too many Jr. Dragsters there, though. They took FOREVER.
On a side note, is there a snowballs chance in hell that KVD will put an ounce of effort into prepping the track this year? I certainly hope so. That place was one of the best hooking tracks around when it first opened.
Below are pics of broken header tube, and a pic and in car video of the 1.41 60ft!
